Colonial Gingerbread

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 C brown sugar
  • 1/2 C butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3/4 C buttermilk
  • 1 C molasses
  • 2 C flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
Instructions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Cream together butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour batter into a greased 8-inch or 9-inch baking pan and bake for one hour.
